South Luangwa National Park is renowned for its exceptional game viewing and impressive leopard population, due in no small part to its tremendous river system, one of the most intact in Africa.

South Luangwa’s walking safaris are truly some of the finest on the continent with expertly trained guides and a myriad of breathtaking landscapes and species. There are, however, many different ways to explore this pristine wilderness and these include microlighting, cycling safaris and game drives during the day and night.

The park encompasses vast plains populated by large herds of elephants and buffalo, the Muchinga escarpment and old woodlands on the banks of the Luangwa River hiding leopards. South Luangwa is also home to a host of antelope, lions, wild dogs and endemic species such as Thornicroft’s giraffe and Cookson’s wildebeest. The birds of South Luangwa National Park are another highlight, with over 450 species recorded within its borders. From the colourful southern carmine bee-eater to the majestic Verreaux’s eagle-owl, birdwatchers will find plenty to delight in as they explore the diverse habitats of the park.

One of South Luangwa’s biggest draws is also the opportunity of an uncrowded and exclusive safari experience. The South Luangwa’s selection of luxury tented camps and opulent lodges offer just that, each ensuring thoughtful attentiveness, first class service and an unforgettable wilderness experience.
