The Lower Zambezi is one of Zambia’s most impressive game viewing areas and boasts a selection of stunning luxury lodges and camps, many with a focus on providing a high-quality, sustainable adventure in nature.

With its location on the mighty Zambezi River, water based activities provide an additional element to your safari with canoe trips and sunset cruises to enjoy with top guides. Fishing is another highlight here, with the opportunity to catch Bream, Tilapia, and the ferocious Tiger fish while enjoying a cold drink in the African sun; the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon.

The lush vistas of the National Park provide ample opportunity to enjoy land-based activities too; the Lower Zambezi is renowned for its walking safaris and thrilling day and night game drives, providing unforgettable, close-up encounters with a variety of wildlife including a thriving leopard population and the famous bull elephants that hurl themselves up onto their hind legs to feed from the high trees – a behavior unique to this region.

The Dry Season

May to October
This is the dry season and the best time to explore the Lower Zambezi National Park and its surroundings. This is when wildlife congregates around water sources and vegetation thins. The dry season is also great for fishing, with the peak month being September and October. Although October is still a part of the dry season, temperatures can become extremely hot during this time.

The Green Season

November to April
With November comes the rains and with it a flurry of birdlife. Some lodges close over this rainy season, which lasts until April, so just check with us if you would like to visit during this time.
