Located near the Great Rift Valley, African blackwood forests and midlands that flow into the Maasai Steppe bushlands, the Manyara Region is both culturally and naturally diverse.

Lake Manyara National Park is one of the main attractions in the region, offering excellent birding and lovely vistas of the alkaline lake. The park is also home to impressive forests of fig and mahogany, which is where you can find their famous tree-climbing lions.

Home to various plains game, giraffes and elephants – one of the best ways to explore the park is with a Maasai guide or on a classic game drive.

Manyara offers a range of luxurious stays that provide exceptional comfort and stunning views of the surrounding nature. For a more extended journey, seamless connections allow you to easily explore the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater letting you experience the full spectrum of Tanzania’s iconic wildlife regions.

The Dry Season

June to October
The best time to visit Lake Manyara for safari is during the long dry season from June to October.

The Green Season

November to May
This is the rainy season in the region. However, the rains do subside slightly in January and February. This time of year is a great time to witness birdlife and lush scenery. The most rainfall occurs from March to May, so make sure you check with us before you book during this time as accessibility is limited and some camps may be closed.
