The Dry Season

May to September
This is the dry season and the best time to spot wildlife, as water becomes more scarce so wildlife congregates around waterholes. The bush is also thinner during this time, making animals easier to spot. It can get quite cold during the night, particularly from June to mid-August, so make sure to park a warm layer.

Although this is usually a good month for game viewing, October can be very hot as temperatures start to rise with the approach of the rains in November.

The Green Season

November to April
This is the rainy and green season in the region. Temperatures and humidity are high from November to early February. The latter shoulder months are more mild, with sporadic downpours. However, this time of year is still a lovely time to see a landscape transformed, with plenty of birds and baby animals.
