Victoria Falls is a must-see natural wonder, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest falling sheet of water on earth and is the perfect addition to a Zimbabwean safari.

Victoria Falls is shared between Zambia and Zimbabwe, each side has its own unique appeal but both have a range of exclusive stays on offer along the banks of the Zambezi, in the quaint surrounding towns, or even on private islands.

Zimbabwe has a much larger proportion of the falls than Zambia, and consequently offers a wider selection of viewpoints. The scenic Zambezi is lined with riverine forest and backed by the 56,000 hectare Zambezi National Park. Many lodges along the river offer the chance to spot a variety of wildlife on game drives and walking safaris within their own private reserves, as well as sundowner cruises and river safaris.

The town of Victoria Falls also offers a variety of pulse-raising activities like white water rafting and bungee jumping or perhaps take to the skies for an unforgettable helicopter flight over the Falls.

The Dry Season

May to October
This is high season in the Falls, when the water levels drop and coincide with the drier winter months in the region. August is considered perfect for white water rafting. This is also a great time to combine your trip to Victoria Falls with a safari. In September and October, the temperatures start to rise, the latter often being the hottest month of the year.

The Green Season

November to April
This is low season in the Falls, which coincides with the rainy season. This is when the water levels are at their highest, peaking from March to May. The Falls are at their most dramatic during this time, emitting an incredible roar as water cascades over the clips and hits the river below, shooting up spray and mist as it does. This time of year can be very wet with lots of dramatic thunderstorms. However, don’t write off the shoulder months of the high season, March and April are lovely times to see the Falls and combine your holiday with a trip to Cape Town. This is also the best time for the Zambian side and a great chance to spot colourful birdlife.
