Right in the northern stretches of Namibia sits a narrow strip of land that seems a world away from the rest of the country’s desert landscapes. This long section is tucked between Angola and Botswana and was formerly named the Caprivi Strip. The Zambezi Region is abundantly green, where rivers and waterways create a lush environment home to a myriad of species.

One of the biggest draws of the Zambezi Region is its excellent fishing and boating opportunities, the area is also fantastic for birding with a plethora of resident and migratory species. The area is tremendously biodiverse and falls within the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), which encompasses five countries. As a result, the area is an essential migration path for elephants.

In addition to its natural wealth, the area is historically and culturally fascinating. Traditional villages dot the area and right at the tip of the region, you will find the meeting point of four different countries – Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

These months represent the dry winter season in the Zambezi Region. Nights can be cool and daytime temperatures are pleasant, making it a great time for game viewing as animals gather around the waterways and rivers.

The Green Season

October to April
October sees very high temperatures and increasing humidity in anticipation of the November rains. Late March and April, at the end of the rainy season, provide pleasant weather.
