Kenya’s bustling cosmopolitan capital is a hub of culture with a variety of excellent hotels, superb restaurants, great shopping opportunities, and a selection of unique wildlife experiences such as the renowned Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the Nairobi Giraffe Centre.

Set against the city’s skyline, Nairobi National Park is Kenya’s oldest wildlife sanctuary and is home to the Big 5 and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – an outstanding organisation that has rescued and rehabilitated a large number of orphaned elephants, rhinos and other species.

The famous giraffe manor in the Langata suburb of Nairobi offers the chance to have afternoon tea with happy interruptions from the resident endangered Rothschild giraffes that roam the surrounding idyllic grounds and indigenous forests.

Nairobi also has a fantastic foodie scene, as well as a rich blended culture that ranges from the house of Karen Blixen, the author of Out of Africa, to chic galleries and African cultural sites.

The Dry Season

June to October
Nairobi has a range of year-round attractions, however, if you want to combine a trip to Kenya’s Capital with a chance to witness the Great Migration in the Mara – June to October is a great time and runs during the long dry season. In October, Nairobi hosts the annual Tusker Safari Sevens tournament, which can be a very festive event in the city. October was also the time in which the Safari Rally was held, which starts in Nairobi and ends in Hell’s Gate National Park, Naivasha. However, over some years the rally can also take place over Easter, so just confirm with us beforehand if this is something you would like to experience.

January to February
January to February marks the short dry season and this is an excellent time to visit Nairobi which is very lush and February is Nairobi Restaurant Week.

The Green Season

November to December
In November, there is a short rainy season that lasts until December.

March to May
The long rains start in about March and last until May. This season is marked by downpours and increased humidity.
