Namibia is an expansive and dramatic desert destination, with plenty of unique safari experiences and luxury lodges. Thanks to great infrastructure and very low malarial options Namibia is perfect for travelling with children and simple to combine with a variety of destinations in Southern Africa.

Namibia’s incredible landscapes make it an exceptional destination for photographers. From the endless sand dunes of the Skeleton Coast, which flow right into the ocean, to ancient deserts, and vibrant wildlife havens. Budding photographers can capture ghost towns reclaimed by the desert, intrepid desert-adapted wildlife with vast dramatic backdrops, and the surreal vistas of Deadvlei with its petrified trees surrounded by rich-red dunes.

From a cultural perspective, Namibia is both unique and captivating. With a blend of European and indigenous influences across the country, German-influenced towns such as Swakopmund exist along with the vibrant cultures of the Himba, Herero and San. Sites like Twyfelfontein offer a glimpse into ancient history, holding one of the highest densities of rock paintings on the continent.

Namibia is also home to an impressive variety of private reserves and excellent parks — including the renowned Etosha National Park and the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Namibia is also home to the world’s largest free-roaming population of black rhinos and cheetah, thanks to the country’s dedication to conservation.

The Dry Season

April to October
Many parts of Namibia can be visited all year round, though temperatures do rise outside of the dry season, with May to October being the most comfortable. This coincides with excellent game viewing in Etosha as wildlife gathers around limited water sources.

The Green Season

November to March
Temperatures peak in November through to March and showers are possible in some areas. Rains in Etosha National Park cause wildlife to disperse making game viewing less productive.
