The Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta in Botswana is the stuff of storybooks. The Delta’s unparalleled natural beauty is only matched by its true abundance of wildlife. A famous safari destination, this UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its exclusivity and extraordinary immersive experiences.

The Okavango Delta’s conservation efforts are far reaching and as a result, this inland delta supports a vast array of biodiversity. It is here that you can spot enormous families of elephants, lions that swim across water channels, and various endangered species such as wild dogs – not to mention hordes of other predators, plains game, 500 species of birds and 1,500 species of plants. You can also see the Big 5 in abundance across the Delta, and rhinos can be found in protected pockets such as Chief’s Island, Moremi and Duba Concession.

The Okavango Delta can be explored in various ways, including a variety of water-based activities such as in an iconic mokoro (a traditional dugout canoe) or kayak. The winding waterways, plains and woodland scan also be seen from above by helicopter – complete with an island champagne picnic. Of course, there are also classic game drives, walking safaris and horseback safaris on offer.

A destination of dramatically changing landscapes, the Delta transforms with the seasons. The low season lends to a drier topography, ideal for spotting predators on sunbaked plains. As the water levels rise, the surroundings are transformed into a lush oasis that attracts wildlife from far and wide.
