The dry season 2026-2027
April to October
Many parts of Namibia can be visited all year round, though temperatures do rise outside of the dry season, with May to October being the most comfortable. This coincides with excellent game viewing in Etosha as wildlife gathers around limited water sources.
The green season 2026-2027
November to March
Temperatures peak in November through to March and showers are possible in some areas. Rains in Etosha National Park cause wildlife to disperse, making game viewing less productive.
Namibia safaris FAQs
Namibia is a top safari destination. Etosha National Park has four of the Big Five, including lion, elephant, rhino and leopard. Only buffalo is missing. It’s one of the best places in the world for cheetah and black rhino, as well as unique, desert-adapted species of oryx and brown hyena.
Other animals you might see include giraffes, fur seals and over 680 bird species. What’s more, safaris in Namibia are generally quieter, giving you a chance to have incredible wildlife experiences all to yourself.
English is Namibia’s official language, but less than 4% of the population speaks it as their native language. Oshiwambo is the most widely spoken language. Some communities speak Afrikaans, German, Portuguese and Khoekhoe.
We recommend light, breathable clothing for Namibia. Pack a mix of loose-fitting trousers and long-sleeved shirts to stay cool and keep yourself protected from the sun.
